Activate your audience with the Referrals Addon. Combine this addon with the Account Addon to provide a unique referral URL to each authenticated user, so they can share with their network, and get referral points every time an account is created from their referral URL.
Then you can use the referral points to create all sorts of interactive experiences that leverage audience networking, from gating access to special content, to earning extra lives in marketing games.
How To Setup
To enable and configure the Referrals Addon:
- Open the Building Blocks on the left sidebar of the Editor
- Search for “Referrals”
- Drag the Referrals addon onto your project to enable it
- Create a new Referrals addon and give it a name, e.g. MyReferrals
- Connect with an Account Addon and configure.
Setup Account Addon
First enable and configure an Account Addon. When doing so, you must create a number data field (named for example “referrals”) which you will use later when configuring the Referrals Addon.
Referrals Addon Settings
Once you have created and enabled an Account Addon with at least a number data field for referrals, go to your Referrals Addon settings and:
- Select the Account Addon you have configured from the Account addon dropdown
- Select the referral number data field you have specified from the Account field to increment on referral dropdown
- Press Save
Configure your Page
On your project, where suitable, present the Referral URL data field provided by the Referrals Addon to the authenticated user, and promote sharing it.
Then, use the referrals number data field from the Account Addon to check if a returning user has any new referrals, every time they come back and login to your interactive experience.
Data fields
The following data field is available on the Account addon:
The Referral URL data field has a URL value when: a new account is created and the user logs in; an already logged in user arrives at, or refreshes, the experience; an existing user logs in.
The Referral URL data field is empty while no user is logged in, or if a logged in user logs out.
