Overview
AI Credits are used whenever you use AI-powered features in Dot.vu.
The number of AI Credits used depends on the amount of AI processing required to complete your request. Simple tasks generally use fewer credits, while creating or modifying more complex functionality requires more AI processing and therefore uses more credits.
Current AI-powered features include:
- AI Interactive Builder
- AI Customization
As new AI-powered features become available, they may also use AI Credits.
Your AI Credits
Every account receives Monthly AI Credits as part of its subscription.
Monthly AI Credits:
- Refresh at the start of every month.
- Don’t roll over to the next month.
- Give you credits to regularly use AI-powered features in Dot.vu.
You may also have Additional AI Credits available on your account.
Additional AI Credits don’t expire and remain available until they’re used. If you need more, you can request Additional AI Credits from the AI Credits dashboard.
AI Customization vs. AI Interactive Builder
How you use AI can have a significant impact on your AI Credit Usage.
AI Customization
If a Building Block already provides most of the functionality you need, start there.
AI Customization lets you use AI to adapt an existing Building Block, such as changing its content, settings, design, or behavior.
Because the underlying functionality already exists, AI Customization generally requires less AI processing than creating something new.
AI Interactive Builder
Use AI Interactive Builder when you want to create something new or need substantial custom functionality.
For example, you may use it to create custom logic, calculations, workflows, interactions, or other functionality specifically for your use case.
More complex builds generally require more AI processing and therefore use more AI Credits.
Tip: Before building something new, check the Building Block library to see if something close to what you need already exists.
How AI Credit Usage Works
There is no fixed number of AI Credits used per prompt or component.
AI Credit Usage depends on the AI processing required for your request. This can be affected by factors such as:
- The complexity of the request.
- The amount of existing context the AI needs to understand.
- The functionality or logic being created or modified.
- The amount of content being processed.
- The complexity of an existing component.
Even a small change to a complex component may require more AI processing because the AI first needs to understand the existing functionality.
Conversations with AI also use AI Credits. However, discussing an idea or refining your requirements generally requires less AI processing than generating or substantially modifying a component.
Use Your AI Credits Efficiently
To get more value from your AI Credits:
- Check existing Building Blocks before creating something from scratch.
- Use AI Customization when an existing Building Block is close to what you need.
- Give AI clear requirements before starting a larger build.
- Discuss and refine complex ideas before asking AI to implement them.
- Improve an existing result instead of repeatedly starting over.
- Make simple content, image, design, or setting changes manually in Dot.vu Studio when appropriate.
- Save useful AI-created components as Building Blocks so your team can reuse them.
The goal isn’t simply to use fewer AI Credits. It’s to use AI where it provides the most value.
