Interactive customer experiences are different from one another and often have different goals. Because of that, they benefit from using different indicators to measure success in each experience. That’s where the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) feature comes in.
Default KPIs
The following default KPIs exist for every project you create and are collected automatically:
- Views. The number of user visits to an Interactive Experience. It is the sum of visitors and returning visitors.
- Visitors. Any untracked visitor arriving for the first time at an Interactive Experience counts up as one visitor on that experience. Arriving for the first time on another experience will count again as one visitor for that other experience.
- Returning Visitors. Every consecutive visit a visitor has on an Interactive Experience after the first time, counts as one returning visitor. If the visitor returns twice, it will count twice.
- Audience Growth. Your Audience grows whenever an untracked visitor arrives at any Interactive Experience of your Dot for the first time ever.
Note: this KPI is only shown under Dashboard > Analytics, for your entire Dot’s global KPI results, and not per project. - New Contacts. Visitors that give contact permission as well as some form of identification, commonly their email, and had not previously done it on your Dot, count as new contacts.
Custom KPIs
Because each interactive customer experience is different, we encourage you to determine the specific goals for each project you work with, and from there define its KPIs. Here are a few examples:
- Users who clicked Start
- Users who got a score higher than 80
- Users who subscribed to newsletter
- Users who participated in more than 80% of an Interactive Video
- Users who clicked on the CTA for the eshop at the end
Once you know what KPIs you wish to track, all you need to know is how to define KPIs and call those KPIs via actions.
How To Define KPIs
To be able to trigger custom KPIs you must first define them. Here’s how:
- Go to the Editor and open the KPIs menu on the right sidebar
- Click the + ADD KPI button to add new KPIs
- Name your KPIs with short but easy-to-understand names
- Click Save to keep your changes
At this point you can start triggering your KPIs wherever you wish on your project.
How To Trigger KPIs
After you define any number of custom KPIs for your project, you can trigger them wherever and whenever you could run an action.
Simply add an action and search for the keyword “KPI”, or search specifically by the KPI’s name, to find the action that triggers the KPI, and click to select it.
How To View KPIs Results
Once your page has been published and visited by users, your KPIs start kicking in!
Go to your Project’s Analytics > KPIs tab to monitor your KPIs with real-time updates.
To change the viewing period, click the period button with the calendar icon, then click apply.
Here you can also reset all KPI data for your project. This is useful if you’ve ran some LIVE testing with your team and want a clean sheet.
