Change Your Project Extension

The extension of a project is the customizable part of its Dot.vu public URL that identifies the project, like so (extension in bold):

https://dot.vu/p/interactive/hat-shuffle-game/

You can change the extension to give your project a clear, recognizable URL. This is useful both when sharing the project as a standalone experience and for keeping project URLs easy to identify and organize.

To change the extension of a project:

  1. Open the Project Settings
  2. Click on the URL tab
  3. Type in the extension you wish to use. Use only lowercase characters and “-” dashes.
  4. Click Confirm and then Yes, save and redirect (will redirect you to the new URL)
  5. Important: if your project was already LIVE, you must republish it as well for the change to complete

Does The Project Extension Affect SEO?

No. Changing the project extension only changes the project’s Dot.vu public URL.

Projects using a Dot.vu public URL cannot be indexed as standalone pages. If you select Index only when embedded, Google may index the project’s content as part of the page where it is embedded.

If the project is linked to a Custom Domain, you configure its Custom Domain URL and search visibility separately.
