You can control how search engines index your project and optionally customize the title and description provided to search engines.
To configure your project’s SEO settings:
- Open your project in the Editor.
- Open Settings.
- Select SEO.
- Configure Search visibility.
- Optionally configure Search metadata.
Search visibility
Search visibility controls whether your project can appear in search results. The available options depend on whether your project uses a Dot.vu public URL or is linked to a Custom Domain.
Projects using a Dot.vu public URL
A project using a Dot.vu public URL cannot be indexed as a standalone page.
You can choose between:
- Index only when embedded – The project’s standalone URL is not indexed. Google may index its content as part of a page where it is embedded.
- Do not index – Search engines should not index the project, including when it is embedded.
Index only when embedded is selected by default.
Projects using a Custom Domain
When your project is linked to a Custom Domain, you can choose between:
- Allow indexing – Search engines may index the project as a standalone page.
- Index only when embedded – The project’s standalone URL is not indexed. Google may index its content as part of a page where it is embedded.
- Do not index – Search engines should not index the project.
If you want your project to appear as a standalone result in search engines, it must be linked to a Custom Domain and have Allow indexing selected.
Search metadata
When your project can be indexed, you can optionally override the information provided to search engines.
You can configure:
- Title – Overrides the project’s title for search engines.
- Description – Overrides the project’s description for search engines.
If either field is left blank, Dot.vu uses the corresponding presentation information instead.
When Do not index is selected, Search metadata is not shown because the project will not be indexed.
